St. Philip Neri Parish 1957 -2007

The cornerstone for St. Philip Neri parish was laid in 1957 in Milwaukee's then far Northwest side. Parents of babyboomers flocked to the area and by 1958 the parish grew to over 1,200 families. My father taught at the school for over 25 years. Both of my sisters were married their. Their children were baptized there. Last October, the funeral of my mother was there.

Sunday, May 27th the last Mass ever was there. I made this photograph in the churches balcony that morning. The organ was gone, there were no pews. Only artifacts of days gone forever...Christmas wreaths and tree stands, artificial Easter bouquets and a Good Friday cross.

How beautiful but sad.
